Unveiling my journey

Welcome to my record of thinking, learning, and teaching through writing!  These pieces are shared as part of my learning process rather than finished publications.

About Evelyn H.J. Tan

Hello! I'm Hanjun (Evelyn) Tan, a high school student, writer, and educator passionate about language, storytelling, and cultural connection.

As an immigrant student who has navigated both Chinese and American educational environments, I have become deeply interested in how language shapes identity and belonging. My work includes an ISBN-published essay collection, Echoes, a Scholastic Gold Key–winning memoir, and essays exploring education, culture, and social issues.

Beyond writing, I enjoy helping others find their voices. Over the past several years, I have worked with ESL learners, supported students transitioning into international and American schools, and mentored peers in writing and humanities-related competitions. Through teaching, writing, and community projects, I hope to create opportunities for learning, dialogue, and understanding across different backgrounds.

Thank you for visiting my page. I hope you find something here that inspires reflection, curiosity, or conversation.

This website began as a place to share my writing and educational projects. Over time, it has grown into a community space where students can publish essays, exchange ideas, and engage in meaningful discussions about culture, society, and the world around them.
